Official Certificates
February 13, 2008
It seems that there is only so far that you can go if you reply on the free resources that are on the Internet, its the same with http://www.ancestry.co.uk” as the information you get is really just based on index files like that of a book. If you really want to explore the past then you need to get the official certificates and that is just what I am going to do - well i am not going to be them but my father is!!! Hopefully, he will be taking a little trip to the Birmingham registry office tomorrow and getting 4 certificates for births, 1 for marriage and 1 for death. This should give me some excellent building blocks to make headway.
I will update with what these actually give me once I have them.
Edna Mary Saunders (Great Auntie)
February 12, 2008
I have found some information of my great auntie, after speaking to my father, he told me about some brothers and sisters that his father had. He mentioned a lady called Edna Saunders. After much shifting though index pages and forums based about Genealogy in Birmingham; I have managed to find out the following.
Edna Mary Saunders , Born 22/05/1921 in Birmingham, Died November 2001 in Birmingham (80 Years old)
I know that this is the correct Edna as I can see that the mothers maiden name was in-fact “Shute” which is what we already know, one step in the right direction anyway.
My Family!
February 12, 2008
I have decided to document all the information that I find regarding my roots, I know that my fathers parents were from Birmingham (Christopher Saunders) and Scotland (Susan Scouller Bell). On my mothers side, there is her mother (Jean Alice Bates) and her father (Edward Henry Thompson)
I don’t really know anything about my grandparents other than Jean Alice Bates (Thompson) as she is the only one who was alive in my life time. There is clearly so much that I want to know but I don’t really know where to start, here’s hoping that the wonderful world of the Internet can help. Well, that and http://www.ancestry.co.uk
